This past Sunday we sought to answer several questions in an attempt to help our congregation better understand what membership in the local Church (or lack thereof) communicates. Here are the questions and their respective answers.
What is the Church?
Not a building to which people go.
Rather a Body to which people belong.
Who is part of the Church?
Not indistinguishable people of all faiths.
Rather identifiable believers in Jesus Christ.
Where is the Church?
Not simply a mysterious invisible entity.
Rather a profoundly manifested local reality.
Why is membership in the Church important?
Not for elevated status or social prominence.
Rather to establish identity and accountability.
