John Jewers has served as the Senior Pastor of CBC since June of 2006. He and his wife Lisa have been married since 1995. Along with their two adopted children, Alana and Aidan, their desire is to grow in their relationship with God in order that they might grow in their relationships with each other. It is their ultimate goal to be what God wants them to be on the inside so they can do what God wants them to do on the outside.
John was born in the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia in the country of Canada. Despite the pressures and persecution launched at him by local peers, his godly parents ensured that he both learned and practiced the Word of God. He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of nine and then answered God’s call to the ministry during his teen years.
John began his formal training for ministry in 1992 and graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministries. He and Lisa then moved to Lansdale, PA where John enrolled in the Master of Divinity program at Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary. He graduated in 2001, but not before God had completely transformed his life. Through various life experiences, God revealed that John not only needed to grow in his academic knowledge of God’s Word, but also in his personal application of God’s Word. Through loving counsel and guidance, John was able to deal with many hurtful issues of the past and finally see himself as God saw him…a person of worth whom God truly wanted to use.
Aside from the broad ministry experience John received during his formal training, both he and his wife have experience in helping both people and churches that are hurting. Their burden is to be used by God to help those with wounded hearts experience the forgiveness and freedom that is offered through the Lord Jesus Christ.
